Install ROS 2
Overview
On AArch64 Ubuntu, this guide installs the matching ROS 2 LTS release for the OS version, configures the package source, developer tools, `rosdep` and the shell environment, and validates basic topic publish-subscribe with a C++ talker/listener example. Its ecosystem value is a minimal runnable starting point for an Arm robotics development environment, letting developers confirm the native ROS 2 toolchain works before connecting sensors, controllers, simulation or multi-node systems.
Scope of verification
- The talker/listener test only confirms basic ROS 2 node and topic communication on one host; it does not validate cross-device discovery, DDS/RMW configuration, QoS, real-time behavior, network stability, hardware drivers or production deployment. Install commands pair Ubuntu with the ROS 2 release; package availability, support windows and repository status should follow the official ROS 2 docs.
