Windows on Arm: ArmPL Math Acceleration

L12 · 15 min · Windows 11 on Arm; Lenovo ThinkPad X13s used as the example platform

Overview

In a Windows 11 on Arm environment on a Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, this guide builds a native ARM64 application with Visual Studio and analyzes single-threaded, multi-threaded and Arm Performance Libraries implementations using the Spin the Cube sample. The workflow maps 3D vertex rotation onto an ArmPL BLAS routine and compares execution behavior of different implementations via FPS and CPU usage. This flow chains Windows native development, CPU profiling and Arm-optimized math libraries into a tuning baseline from baseline to library integration for compute-intensive desktop apps.

Scope of verification

  • It is a Windows on Arm optimization reference workflow on a Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, validating native ARM64 build, profiling and ArmPL BLAS integration.
  • Dependencies include Windows 11 on Arm, Visual Studio 2022, a matching Arm Performance Libraries version, the Spin the Cube sample, compiler/linker configuration and fixed workload settings.
  • Scope centers on FPS and CPU usage for a specific 3D-graphics sample; results vary with hardware, ArmPL version, compiler flags and workload, and do not cover other applications, image-quality/power analysis, cross-device benchmarking or production optimization guarantees.
