Neoverse RD-V3 Software Stack Bring-up
Overview
On an AWS m7g.4xlarge Ubuntu host, this guide uses a pinned manifest and a containerized build environment to build Neoverse RD-V3's TF-A, RSE, SCP/MCP, UEFI, GRUB, Linux kernel and Buildroot. The workflow observes multiple UARTs on a matching RD-V3 FVP, validates the full boot chain and Linux login, and extends to platform-control firmware modification and RD-V3-R1 dual-chip simulation. This pre-silicon baseline chains several upstream firmware projects and the Arm FVP, letting platform developers reproduce, trace and debug software handoff before silicon is available.
Scope of verification
- It is a pre-silicon software-stack reference workflow on the RD-V3/RD-V3-R1 FVP, validating pinned firmware components, multi-UART boot, Linux login, firmware modification and dual-chip simulation.
- Dependencies include an AWS m7g.4xlarge or equivalent Arm build host, Ubuntu 22.04, a containerized toolchain, a matching manifest release, the FVP version, sufficient storage/memory and long-running build capacity.
- Scope shows the specified software stack can complete boot and firmware handoff on the FVP; it does not cover physical-silicon timing, performance, power, I/O, memory training, hardware errata, secure-boot certification or production-platform validation.
